Featured on AutoHunter is this 1965 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible. When I saw this listing, I asked myself, “What exactly is an Acadian Beaumont?” To put it simply, it initially was a Canadian-market General Motors product based on the Chevrolet Chevy II, then Chevelle, with unique name and trim indigenous to Canada. This Acadian Beaumont is powered by a 5.3L V8 mated to a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission. Painted red with a black convertible top over a red vinyl interior, this ragtop is offered by a private seller with the original radio, dealer brochure, service repair manual, Vintage Vehicle Services record, awards, and clear title.
The existence of this car led up to the Auto Pact (APTA), which had been established to protect Canadian manufacturing. GM had been manufacturing different makes in Canada based on economies of scale, which explains the existence of a Chevelle-based car sold at Pontiac dealerships, like this car. This example is quite rare being one of 133 Beaumont Sport Deluxe six-cylinder convertibles built by GM of Canada in 1965.
The exterior looks to be in excellent condition, with the original Sierra Tan Metallic paint changed to the current red you see here. Exterior features include chrome lower-body trim, Sport Deluxe-specific rear fender chrome accents, dual chrome side mirrors, front antenna, and more. A set of 15-inch Cragar S/S mags are wrapped in staggered-width Mickey Thompson tires — 215/75 (front) and 275/60 (rear). The convertible top is said to be new.
The interior is also in very nice shape, with the red vinyl bucket seats, carpets, door cards, and dash all in excellent condition. I personally love the chrome center console with the automatic shifter and the very cool gauge cluster which includes a 120-mph speedometer, 6,000-rpm tachometer, fuel gauge, and aftermarket auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and voltage. It also features a dash-mounted digital speedometer. This was added as the seller states that the original speedometer and odometer did not work.
Lift the hood and instead of the straight-six this car came with you will find a fuel-injected 5.3L V-8. In addition, the stock Powerglide automatic transmission has been replaced with a much superior four-speed 4L60E automatic.
Under the car you will find a 10-bolt Positraction rear with 4.11 gears, air shocks, front power disc brakes, and custom dual exhaust system. Everything under the car, including floors and suspension, all look to be in excellent condition.
If you were to drive this car to a show in the U.S., you would quite likely have the only Acadian Beaumont there, which is a bit of exclusivity I like. Be sure to be prepare for the countless questions you are likely to get. This is an interesting collector car and one I have personally never seen before beyond photos.
If you like this kind of exclusivity in the sea of American collector cars out there in the world, our AutoHunter Spotlight is just the ticket for you. If so, act fast though as the auction for this 1965 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible ends on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. (PDT).
