2027 Ford Bronco Filson Has Rugged Heritage and Raptor Power

Do you miss the days when Ford offered the Eddie Bauer trim level on its trucks and SUVs? Well, we have good news and bad news. Let’s start with the bad news first: The two companies have not rekindled that partnership. The good news is that The Blue Oval teamed up with Filson, a Seattle-based manufacturer of rugged clothing and gear (and this writer’s pocket knife), to create the 2027 Bronco Filson.

You could call this a shrewd business move. It makes sense for the companies to join forces given that they both sell products designed to survive in extreme outdoor conditions and get people to their destinations safely and comfortably. You could also call this fate as both Ford and Filson outfitted Forest Service workers in the 1960s. And when the sixth-generation Bronco’s designers assembled a “mood board” for their eventual creation, guess what was on it? Several Filson pictures.

A unique front grille, painted wheel arches and mirror caps, and exclusive trail sight tie-downs set the Bronco Filson apart from its siblings. Colors include Marsh Gray, Avalanche Gray, Desert Sand, Shadow Black, Oxford White, and Field Green Metallic, the latter being exclusive to the Bronco Filson; however, the most special color of all is Iron Sands Copper Metallic, available only on the Bronco Filson First Edition. Other features include unique fender badging, custom serialized console badge, and water- and dirt-resistant Filson-inspired cargo storage bags.

All Bronco Filson editions come standard with automatic power running boards and the popular Sasquatch package that includes front and rear locking differentials, internal-bypass Fox shocks with piggyback reservoirs, and 35-inch tires. GOAT (“Goes Over Any Type of Terrain”) modes include Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Baja, Off-Road, and Rock Crawl. Given that the Filson is the Bronco’s premium trim level, Ford made sure to tweak a few things. It custom-tuned the shocks for “a combination of off-road capability and on-road ride quality.” Thanks to improved airflow, acoustic glass, and enhanced seals, the Filson has the quietest Bronco cabin ever, with nearly 20 percent less perceived wind noise compared to the 2021 Bronco. By far, the biggest change is the specially tuned version of the Bronco Raptor’s 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, which cranks out 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft (on premium fuel, of course).

Like a Filson jacket, the interior was designed to be worn in, not worn out. The seats are covered in perforated, quilted leather and woven fabric trim inspired by Filson’s twill. Brass accents highlight the leather-wrapped steering wheel and instrument panel.

Of course, there are plenty of luxury and convenience features as well, such as new ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, upgraded B&O audio system, removable saddlebags, and digital rearview mirror with its own washer.

If you want to get a hands-on preview of the Bronco Filson, mark July on your calendar — that’s when the Bronco Filson Tour, a “multi-city immersive showcase highlighting its design, materials, and capability,” begins. Order banks will open this fall, with Bronco Filsons rolling into showrooms in early 2027. Expect pricing to start at around $75,000.
