The Long Way Home

Storm Chaser's Ram 2500 Finds New Fame in Branson Museum

The rust-red Ram 2500 wasn’t built for glamour—it was built for chaos. As the storm-chasing rig of Tyler Owens (played by Glen Powell) in Twisters, it plowed through mud, thunder, and special effects. Now, instead of being scrapped like its five twin trucks, this movie warrior lives on in Branson, Missouri.

Key Points

  • Survivor Status: Of six trucks built for Twisters, only one—used for close-up shots—was spared the scrapyard.

  • Cinematic Character: The truck's gritty cabin features harnesses, chains, and a wood console just like in the movie.

  • New Road Life: Scott Velvet restored the Ram’s fake rust and steel armor—and drives it during real storms in Missouri.

What’s next for this cinematic relic? It’s now part showpiece, part street prowler—turning heads on the road and in the Celebrity Car Museum. A Hollywood retirement never looked so rough and ready.
