As we get closer to rounding the corner to 2027, it’s worth looking back at some of the memorable (and, in some cases, not-so-memorable?) vehicle debuts from a decade and a half ago. Let’s time-travel to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

I attended the event in January 2012 as a guest of Acura. At the time, I was one of about a half-dozen people invited as bloggers to witness the reveal of three important new concept cars for the brand: ILX, RDX, and NSX. I later ended up collaborating with Acura on the release of the production-spec ILX by blogging about one for a year, but that’s another story.

The Detroit show, at the time called the North American International Auto Show (or NAIAS), brought in over 700,000 people over its nine-day run. There were 54 manufacturers present with over 500 total cars on display across nearly one million square feet of floor space. To many, NAIAS was considered the keystone automotive event of the year, not just for Motor City, but for the industry as a whole.

I was able to check out some of the makes and models on display. Here are 13 of them.
