Right now on AutoHunter, you can find this 1940 Ford Custom Pickup, a frame-off restoration powered by a 350ci V-8 paired with a THM350 three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Screaming Yellow over a gray synthetic leather interior, this ’40s Ford is now offered by a private seller in Indiana with the stock front axle and springs, receipts, and a clear title. You can watch a tour of the vehicle and hear the engine start up in the video below.
The cab, bed, fiberglass front and rear fenders, and fiberglass running boards are finished in a Ford color called Screaming Yellow. Exterior features include chrome bumpers, bright trim, 1939 Ford headlights, two-piece windshield, dual mirrors, and custom tailgate art. The bed contains a removable steamer trunk and a floor made of wood planks and metal bed strips.
This truck rides at just the right height over its 15-inch Wheelsmith powder-coated wheels, which are wrapped in 185/65 front and 225/70 rear BFGoodrich Advantage radial tires. Behind the wheels are power front disc and rear drum brakes.
Inside the cab, the aftermarket seating is covered in gray synthetic leather upholstery. Comfort and convenience features include a ceiling-mounted radio, heater, floor-mounted B&M T-handle automatic shifter, leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel, and kick panel speakers.
The VDO instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the voltage, fuel level, temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer shows 23,910 miles, but the title indicates this truck is mileage-exempt.
Ford fans: There is a V-8 under the hood, but it’s a GM 350! It comes equipped with roller rockers, Edelbrock AVS2 four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and powder-coated headers. The battery was relocated to underneath the bed. A THM350 three-speed automatic transmission delivers the 350’s power to an eight-inch rear end.
The engine wasn’t the only thing that was replaced. In addition, the underpinnings were swapped out for a custom frame. Suspension upgrades include Pete & Jake’s front drop arms and POSIES SuperSlide springs with rear blocks.
