Hispano Suiza Showcases Latest Hypercar, Classics at F1 Grand Prix

More than a century of heritage from a brand that earned a king’s adoration was on display at the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, as Hispano Suiza was at the Madring showcasing nine vehicles that represent the marque’s evolution over 120 years.

Eight historic vehicles formed a walkable chronological journey from 1912 to 2002, joined by Hispano Suiza’s latest model, the Carmen Sagera.

The decision to showcase this historic brand at the event is aligned with its Hispano Suiza’s roots, as the Spanish manufacturer competed in various motor races from the beginning to show-off and test its designs in direct competition. While competing in contests like the Copa Catalunya and Concurso Automovilista del Guadarrama, the manufacturer won a very powerful fan in Alfonso XIII, King of Spain. He became a regular customer and even had a 1912 model named after him — in fact, it was one of the cars on display.

Another model present was the 1922 Rabassada, conceived to be a lightweight build based upon the Alfonso XIII. This vehicle is linked to the historic Subida a la Rabassada hillclimb race that went from Barcelona to Sant Cugat Del Valles by way of a windy mountain road that ascends the Collserola range.

Hispano Suiza also brought the 1924 H6C Boulogne, which was developed after the brand’s three-consecutive victories in 1921, 1922, and 1923 on the French Boulogne-sur-Mer circuit.

In addition to the historic models, Hispano Suiza displayed the Carmen Sagrera (which was initially unveiled in 2024) as a celebration of the brand’s 120th anniversary. An all-electric hypercar, the Carmen Sagrera puts out an adrenaline-pumping 1,114 horsepower, resulting in a 0-62 mph time of 2.6 seconds. Fun fact: This vehicle is so fast, Hispano Suiza had to call on Michelin to create a specific version of its Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
