Currently listed for sale on AutoHunter is this restored 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe. Introduced in ’58 as a sub-model of the Bel Air, the Impala quickly became America’s favorite model. Powering this one is a Turbo-Fire 283 V-8 paired with a Powerglide automatic. Features include continental kit, skirts, dual chrome side mirrors, and more. Painted Onyx Black over a red/gray/black vinyl and cloth interior, this 1950s cruiser comes from the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, original build sheet, trophies, spare parts, and clear title.
The Onyx Black paint allows the brightwork — a longitudinal spear, non-functional rear-fender scoop, and more — to shine. This Impala is also fitted with rear fender skirts and a continental kit out back, both popular 1950s accessories. For better visibility, you’ll find a pair of chrome side mirrors. A set of 14-inch steel wheels with chrome wheel covers featuring spinner center caps is wrapped in wide white-wall radials.
The cabin features red vinyl seats with red/black/gray cloth inserts, with a split-back bench seat up front. Other features include column-mounted automatic shifter, power steering, factory AM radio with aftermarket Realistic cassette player, accessory tissue dispenser, and a modern console/cupholder placed on the transmission hump.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the coolant temperature and fuel. The odometer currently shows 97,000 miles, though the title reads mileage-exempt.
The Turbo-Fire 283 V-8 with two-barrel carburetor was originally rated at 195 horsepower with an 8.5:1 compression ratio. The small-block is connected to a two-speed Powerglide automatic. This past spring, this Impala was the recipient of a new fuel pump.
The undercarriage features manual drum brakes on all four corners. Out back, the rear differential features 3.70 gears with Positraction. A dual exhaust system routes spent gasses to the rear.
The remarkable thing about Chevrolets from this era is that, despite being lowest on the totem pole of General Motors’ hierarchy, they were chock full of style. And while our AutoHunter Spotlight’s exterior doesn’t revel in two- or three-tone paint schemes, the pairing of the three interior colors is absolutely smashing. If this appeal to your stylish side (or anything else) resonates with you, you should bid on this 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe now because the auction will end on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 12:15 p.m. (PDT).
