From 1994-2007, Ford had full ownership of both Aston Martin and Jaguar. For that reason, some of the halo cars from both brands were closely related to one another. Did you know that the Jaguar XK8 and its sister car, the Aston Martin DB7, traced lineage back to the same design project? Featured on AutoHunter is a low-mileage 2000 Jaguar XK8 Convertible listed for sale by a private party in Blue Ash, Ohio.
The XK8, developed internally under project code X100, was sold from 1996-2006 in two-door coupe and convertible body styles as a grand tourer with sporting aspirations. One of the advertisements for the XK8 said, “You’ve made a statement. Here’s the exclamation point. Few automobiles can punctuate a stretch of road like the 32-valve, 290hp Jaguar XK8. You’re sure to find this a uniquely refined driving experience. This is exhilaration, period.”
The color British Racing Green has long been associated with performance cars. In fact, the color’s history dates back as far as 1903. So it’s fitting that this Jag, which was assembled in Coventry, England, comes finished in such a shade. Exterior features include a tan power-retractable top, power-adjustable side mirrors, chrome door handles, body side moldings, and 17-inch five-spoke wheels wrapped in Yokohama tires.
The well-appointed cabin is upholstered in Crème leather; features include power-adjustable bucket seats, woodgrain trim, center console, cruise control, air conditioning, power door locks, power windows, and an AM/FM sound system with a trunk-mounted CD changer. I’ve always thought the J-shaped shift gate in the XK8 was clever. The right side (main gate) operates like a standard automatic, with selections for Park, Reverse, Neutral, and Drive. But the left side allows for manual-mode shifting, achieved by nudging the shifter forward or backward to hold specific gears.
Under the hood is a 4.0-liter “AJ” V-8 (290 horsepower/290 lb-ft of torque) mated to a rebuilt five-speed automatic transmission. Extensive mechanical work has been performed in the last several years. The fluids were changed in 2025; in 2021, the valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, ignition coils, radiator, timing chain, and battery were replaced.
The odometer shows just 75,800 miles, which falls in line with the most reading on the AutoCheck report of 74,659 miles in June 2025. Speaking of the AutoCheck, the log shows long-term Florida and Georgia ownership for the car’s first 25 years; it was first relocated to Ohio in May 2025.
