Photo Gallery: New-Car Ads from 50 Years Ago

It’s about that time of year when we will start seeing 2027 vehicles hitting the streets. I recently had access to some newspaper archives, so I decided to browse and download some of the advertisements that were popping up 50 years ago as the automotive world prepared for the 1977 model year.

I came up with 15 ads from various manufacturers/dealers that I wanted to share with you, and I’m betting some of them will deliver a bit of nostalgia. Settle into your easy chair, unfold the newpaper, and let’s look at some of the available merchandise in alphabetical order by make.

AMC Pacer: Offered with a $250 cash rebate (or you can apply the $250 to your down payment).

Buick Riviera: Available at factory invoice plus $150. (“Request to see invoices.”)
