David Spade is known for being a comedian and the star of several funny movies, including “Tommy Boy” and “Joe Dirt,” but he once owned a car that was no joke when it came to performance: a 1987 Buick Grand National. Our correspondent Tyson Hugie spotted Spade’s former G-body looking sleek and sinister in all-black. Named after the NASCAR Winston Cup Grand National Series, this bad-boy Buick is powered by a turbocharged and intercooled 3.8-liter V-6 that was pumping out 245 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque — which topped the 1987 Chevrolet Corvette L98’s figures.
Inside, the interior features newer black and gray upholstery as well as an array of convenience features and air conditioning, making the Grand National feel as cool as it looks. In fact, this GN’s so cool that someone bought it for $50,600 at the Barrett-Jackson 2026 Scottsdale Auction.
