“Time is of the essence” can be a severe understatement when it comes to saving lives. An organ is only viable between three and 36 hours after removal, depending on private jets or helicopters to give someone a lifeline. However, in Italy, there is a third option: a Lamborghini Temerario Polizia.
In a ceremony attended by the Italian Minister of the Interior Matteo Pintedosi, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann, and other distinguished guests, the Italian State Police was presented with a new Lamborghini Temerario Polizia.
Temerario from the rear
The Temerario will join a Gallardo, Gallardo LP 560-4, Huracán, and Urus as part of a unit that has transported organs in over 200 missions since 2004. The fleet of six has also transported medical supplies and other items when time is running out, plus it has participated in over 1,500 road safety education events.
The Temerario is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 paired with three electric motors for a total of 920 CV (approximately 907 horsepower). “The Temerario delivers a combination of performance and efficiency which, in the hands of the police, translates into a tool capable of accomplishing the most delicate missions in the shortest possible time,” says Lamborghini. At the event, Lamborghini also introduced the book “I motori della Polizia” (which actually can be found online from distributors in the United States). Produced in conjunction with the Institutional Communcations Office of the Italian State Police, the book recounts the history of the vehicles that have supported the institution’s activities for over two decades.
