Ever Heard of the Shelby GT600?

There are two numbers that every person with even the slightest familiarity with Shelby vehicles knows: 350 and 500, as in the GT350 and GT500 models. But what about the GT600? Technically, this custom truck build is a Shelby — it’s still in the Shelby registry.

Many times while I’m researching a car for a story or looking for article ideas, I come across something interesting that I bookmark to write about later. A week or so ago, the GT600 popped into my YouTube feed. I couldn’t help but look into it.

The GT600 is a product of Jack’d Up Trucks (JUT), a Wyoming company that specializes in “Mixing old with new. Making good trucks great!” As advertised, to build “The Shelby,” JUT combined a 2012 Shelby Raptor with 1960s Ford truck styling. It took the Raptor chassis, then topped it with the crew cab from a 1965 Ford truck. At the nose, there’s a modified front end from an F-600 medium-duty rig featuring one-off billet “SHELBY” lettering and a special Raptor hood badge. At the back is a custom stepside bed. JUT coated everything in the same Candyapple Red used on ’67 Shelby Mustangs. JUT added white lower-body stripes as the finishing touch.

Inside, a modified version of the 1960s dashboard remains, but the rest is pretty much all Raptor, from the instrument cluster and seats to the radio and center console, making this JUT’s first build with a hybrid interior.

The engine is a hybrid, too: a 6.2-liter V-8 combined with a supercharger that helps it crank out 575 horsepower and turns the Fittipaldi beadlock wheels and chunky Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires.

If you’re lucky, you might come across the Jack’d Up Trucks GT600 in person. According to the company, it’s going to be displayed at shows and events throughout the year.
