Having a Ferrari parked in your driveway is a quick way of telling people you’ve “made it.” But what about those people who want to remind their dinner party guests they’re a Ferrarista during the mansion tour? Ferrari has the answer: hoods and engine covers sketched on by its design director Flavio Manzoni.
There’s a wide range of Ferrari collectibles: everything from scale models to components, from F1 cars to Montblanc pens and beyond. The new Sketch Body series consists of Manzoni’s original sketches on the hoods or engine covers of five modern Ferraris. The sketches include notes, airflow directions, and measurements that highlight certain key functions and areas.

The hood for the Ferrari 812 Competizione’s front-mounted 6.5-liter V-12 is divided by a carbon fiber blade that accentuates the hood’s aerodynamics.

The 12Cilindri’s “cofango,” which integrates the hood and front fenders into one massive piece, is equipped with black vents; curved and diagonal lines draw the eye toward the fender peaks.

Part of the Icona series, the Daytona SP3 also has a cofango, but this one combines the rear fenders and the cover for the mid-mounted 828-horsepower V-12. According to Ferrari, the Sketch Body version “accentuates the dual crests of the fenders, each of which described by a clean, single stroke hinting at the bulge of the wheel just under the skin in a visually light and dynamic form.”

Ferrari didn’t leave out its first four-door four-seater, the Purosangue. The massive piece of brushed aluminum over its V-12 is covered with black lines that highlight both its points and its curves.

Manzoni scrawled white graphics and writing on the knight visor-like cover for the F80’s engine, which features six vents to cool the 1,200-horsepower hybrid V-6 underneath.
A plain Ferrari engine cover is cool enough, but these Sketch Body models are especially neat because they combine concept and finished product in one piece that features one hell of an artist’s “signature.” I’m a fan of the Ferrari 812 Competizione’s hood, but which one is your favorite?
