I think it’s safe to assume that you know exactly what you’re going to do today to mark America’s 250th birthday. But right now, you’re reading this week’s installment of Car Connections, which is completely random. That’s because I took three products of the Random Word Generator and somehow linked all of them to automobiles. This week’s words are beard, pawn, and insight. How would you associate these words with cars? Tell us in the Comments section below. (And click here for more Car Games!)

Beard: This certainly isn’t true of all diesel truck owners, but it seems that many of them have beards, sometimes big, bushy, wizard-y face manes. I’ll go ahead and pick a Ford F-350 with the 500-horsepower, 1,200-lb-ft 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V-8 as a representative vehicle.

Pawn: Chess. The 2001 film “Training Day,” in which Detective Alonzo Harris (played by Denzel Washington) teaches his new partner Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) that working on the LAPD’s narcotics squad is like a game of chess, not checkers. Harris’ 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo helps him play the game a little faster and with lots of swagger.

Insight: My mind split this into two words: in sight. Crosshairs help with aiming at a target. It’s been almost a decade since Ram offered the 1500 with a “crosshair” grille. Did it miss the mark by changing things up?
