Thanks to its short wheelbase, removable top, and 4×4 capabilities, the first-generation Ford Bronco has been a perennial favorite for adventure-seekers who enjoy the great outdoors. Featured on AutoHunter is a 1969 Ford Bronco Custom SUV listed for sale by a private seller in Arvada, Colorado.
Movie stars, too, appreciate what early Ford Broncos have to offer. This one was reportedly owned by Josh Hutcherson of “The Hunger Games” fame. Hutcherson, now 33, went from being a successful child actor to a global celebrity. In recent years, he appeared in films including “The Beekeeper,” “I Love LA,” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.” While specific information about Hutcherson’s Bronco ownership experience or duration is not shared, the topic that should pique the interest of any “The Hunger Games” fan.
Exterior features include chrome bumpers, metallic copper paint (repainted from the original Reef Aqua), satin black hood accent, Rampage soft-top and bikini top, fender flares, body side moldings, chrome side steps, and steel 15-inch wheels shod in 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires.
Ford pushed the Bronco in advertising by encouraging people to consider buying one as a “second car.” An advertisement said, “Maybe your second car should be more than just another first car. Go anywhere with a 4-wheel-drive Ford Bronco. A round-the-town second car, or a spirited hunting and fishing companion. 4-wheel-drive traction sails you through mud, snow, sand. Smooth-riding Mono-Beam front suspension, nimble 33-ft. turning diameter, powerful Six or V-8 engine up to 205 hp.” Makes you wonder if Josh Hutcherson ever put this one through its off-road paces?
Inside, we find black vinyl bucket seats, Tuffy center console with a radio and storage, Hurst shifter, power steering, and a sound system with a Kenwood head unit and six JL Audio speakers.
The 302ci V-8 was rated at 205 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque in stock form. Features include electronic fuel injection, Edelbrock throttle body, aluminum radiator, and headers. A three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case send the power to all four corners. The listing says the drivetrain and clutch were rebuilt, the manual transmission was converted to a floor-shift design, the radiator was installed in 2020, and the fuel injection system was installed in 2020.
First-generation Broncos boast a passionate collector following. If you’re a fan of the vintage 4×4 and also happened to watch “The Hunger Games,” this copper custom is meant to be yours.
