At the Barrett-Jackson 2026 Scottsdale Auction, Ford‘s Joe Bellino presented the Mustang GTD Spirit of America, a car that honors the kind of ingenuity and courage that led to Craig Breedlove setting a land speed record in 1963 (in a jet-powered vehicle named “Spirit of America”) and the Mustang GTD lapping the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes. The Spirit of America model wears a very patriotic Race Red, Performance White, and Lightning Blue color scheme; inside, the seats are covered in a combination of Black Onyx, Race Red gradient striping, Re-Entry White trim, and Victory Blue contrast stitching.
Ahead of America’s 250th birthday, Ford has come up with a revised version of the Spirit of America treatment with asymmetrical stripes that present the Mustang tri-bar badge from the 1960s in a bold new way. Click the play button and we’ll show you both versions of the Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America and the new time that Ford set at the Nürburgring with the upcoming Mustang GTD Competition model.
